PUBG uses Battleye — one of the more aggressive anti-cheats in the industry. It does kernel-level scans, but external memory readers still fly under the radar because they don't touch game process memory directly.
Why External Cheats Survive Battleye
Battleye scans for injected code and hooked functions inside the PUBG process. An external cheat runs as a separate process and reads memory through Windows APIs — the same way debugging tools work. Without injection, there's nothing to flag.
Safe Settings for Ranked
- FOV: 10–15°. PUBG players rarely hit flick shots — too obvious.
- Smoothing: 50–70. Matches natural mouse movement.
- Bullet drop compensation: Enable. It looks natural because real players do this.
- ESP: Players only. Loot ESP gets reported more often.

Battlete Eye Module Updates Timeline
Battleye ships as a service that patches independently of Steam. Its module set (BEservice.exe, BEClient_x64.dll, BEService headless driver beservice.sys) can update within hours of a PUBG build going live, so a working configuration in the morning can fail by the evening. Track version strings: the client logs its module build in the file at C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Battleye\BEClient_x64.dll — right-click, Properties, Details tab, and note the File version date. A jump in that date without a corresponding Steam client update is the signal to hold off. The beservice.sys driver registers a kernel callback on image load; that is the mechanism that sees new processes, not just injected code. Failures usually appear as a 30-second freeze followed by a session drop rather than an outright ban — the anti-cheat has flagged the session but deferred enforcement. Treat any unexplained freeze mid-match as a warning and stop using that build immediately.
Verifying ESP Without Geting Fooled
Most false 'it works' reports come from overlay bleed rather than any actual memory read. Verify by cross-checking a known static object: the Miramar prison water tower or the Georgopol containers spawn in fixed positions on the Erangel and Miramar layouts. Load into a match, and confirm the overlay boxes align with those structures from 200 metres out before trusting player markers. Second test: watch a prone player in grass at 150 metres with the ESP off and on — real ESP will track them through the terrain, whereas a screen-capture-based tool will lose them. Third, check the draw order: a correctly layered overlay renders above the game canvas but below the Steam overlay (Shift+Tab). If player boxes appear over the Steam friends list, you are seeing a capture overlay, not a memory-backed ESP, and the data will be delayed and inaccurate against fast strafing targets.
Map-Specific Distance and Zeroing
Bullet drop compensation that defaults to one value fails differently on each map. Erangel's 7.62 weapons drop roughly 0.5 mrad at 400 metres with the AWM, but the 5.56 family (M416, SCAR-L) drifts about 30 percent more at the same range, so a single smoothing profile tuned on Erangel misreads shots on Miramar. Sanhok's engagement distances rarely exceed 150 metres, so any compensation above that range is wasted cycles and adds input latency. Vikendi's variable snow weather changes ambient light and contrast, which throws off a naive pixel-based target classifier more than any anti-cheat ever will. Set distance-specific profiles keyed to map name in the cheat's config file, then test on the training mode range targets at 100, 200 and 400 metres with the weapon you actually run. Keep the zeroing table per weapon category rather than a single global multiplier; a global value is the most common cause of 'aimbot feels off' reports after a patch.
